Capillarity and wetting phenomena

Dr Christian Heining, Research Fellow, University of Bayreuth, Germany.

This lecture series gives a short introduction to the conceptual framework used in research on wetting/dewetting processes, related capillary phenomena, free surface flow and flow at low Reynolds numbers. The range of topics covers applications in nature and industry like the water supply of plants, the propulsion of microorganisms, coating techniques and heat and mass exchangers.
– The continuum hypothesis
– Slip effects
– Creeping flows
– Capillarity and gravity
– Drops
– Film flow
